Getting started¶
1. Turn sand into electronics¶
- Use a vanilla Brush on ordinary Sand, holding use for about two seconds. Each completed attempt has a 35% chance to produce Silica Rich Sand. The sand block is consumed; failed attempts drop ordinary sand.
- Smelt Silica Rich Sand into Silicon Dust.
- Smelt Silicon Dust into a Silicon Boule.
- Craft the boule with a supported sword to obtain 12 Silicon Wafers. The sword loses one durability point rather than being consumed.
- Surround a wafer with four gold ingots in a cross to make a Doped Wafer.
- Combine wafers with Gold Wire, redstone and copper to make Basic Circuits and Basic Capacitors. See key recipes.
Keep iron blocks, gold, copper, redstone and diamonds available: even the first machines require substantial vanilla resources.
2. Set up a small powered workshop¶
Craft a Basic Coal Generator, a Basic Refiner, a battery and suitable energy cables. Give the refiner a supported input recipe and supply FE. Add a Basic Extractor when your power supply can sustain it.
A Basic Refiner needs 500 FE/t, while one Basic Coal Generator exports 250 FE/t. A battery can bridge shortages temporarily, but cannot make one generator sustain that load forever. A Basic Extractor needs 2,000 FE/t before modifiers.
Watch the machine's energy and stability, keep output slots clear, and use modules and Flux Crystals for maintenance. The Configurator tunes calibration; the Machine Controller becomes your automation panel later.
3. Gather dimensional materials¶
Vanilla Creepers can drop Unstable Particles. Endermen can drop Void Dust, Void Fragments and, more rarely, Void Bars. The base added-drop chances are 50%, 70%, 20% and 5% respectively; Looting improves them.
Stellar Flower can be processed in a refiner to obtain Stellar Essence.
Stable and Unstable Particle ores generate in the Overworld between Y −64 and −30.
4. Approach your first Rift¶
Overworld Rifts can appear before you have advanced machines. Their tier determines the danger; an early discovery of a high-tier Rift does not mean you are ready to fight it.
Make a Stable Orb and hold use near an ordinary Rift for five seconds to seal it. Its Rift Residue and possible Rift Core become useful in later recipes. Read Rifts and Breaches before treating an anomaly as a permanent farm.
Next: follow progression and materials, then plan your power network.
